There are many traditions, cultures and religions that use the practice of chanting to reach specific objectives in a spiritual sense.

Within the Asian Shamanic traditions chanting was used to coax evil spirits out of the sick in order to heal and restore health. Today in Korea this still takes place.

In the Eastern Asian countries there is a type of chanting that is found which is called overtone chanting which can be found in Tuva and Mongolia. The technique of Hoomii or overtone throught singing is used by the Shamans in Tuva.
In Indonesia there is a different form of chanting called Kecak. Kecak is also called, “ketjak”, or “cak”, or the “monkey chant”. Today Kecak is used mainly for performance art but has origins of a ritualistic nature.

The day has finally arrived! You have looked forward to today, shopping with your eldest daughter. She recently married and this is the first time you have been able to get together since their wedding. You cannot wait to see how she is doing as a new bride.

At the next store memories are invoked by what is in the showcase. Camping gear is laid out in an array to make any camper wish they were at the campground. Your family goes camping every year and you speak with Janine about plans for this summer. You both set up tentative plans for an outing for the four of you next month. Hopefully everyone will be able to set the date into his or her respective schedules.
You walk into the next store, which has everything a cook would want in her kitchen. Here you will purchase a new roasting pan with lid. This new one will match the decor of your kitchen and replace the old one that is on its last legs. Janine sees what you have placed in your basket and decides to also get one for her new home.
The next store to go to will have what your daughter needs to purchase for her husband. Then the two of you will head for the food court. Walking this morning through the various stores has made you hungry; you are both looking forward to sitting down.

Kennet is a former council area of Wiltshire, encompassing Marlborough, Pewsey, Devizes and Tidworth.
